In the world of freight logistics, every now and then we encounter projects that push the boundaries of what's possible. Few weeks ago was one of those exciting moments for our X2 Asia Global member - 1UP Cargo, as they undertook the challenging yet rewarding task of managing a GT27D aircraft tractor.
The GT27D arrived on an out-of-gauge (OOG) 40' flat rack, presenting unique logistical challenges right from the start. Due to its dimensions and the necessary licenses, they had to meticulously plan and execute several critical steps to ensure smooth handling and delivery.
Their first task was to arrange the unpacking at the Port of Auckland. Given the size of the tractor, it was imperative to carefully manage every aspect of the unloading process. Following this, they coordinated the delivery using a low loader, ensuring the tractor was transported safely and efficiently to its next destination.
One of the most crucial aspects of this operation was organizing the crane to unload the tractor airside, right on the runway. This step required precise coordination to ensure the tractor was positioned correctly and ready for its new role.
The GT27D aircraft tractor will play a vital role in pushing aircraft back onto the runway, a crucial function for maintaining efficient airport operations.
A special shoutout to Marielle Comia and Roy Hernandez for their exceptional work and dedication in bringing this project to fruition. Their expertise and hard work were instrumental in overcoming the challenges and achieving a successful outcome.
